I must tell you about a very useful position reporting and location program created by a fellow yachtsman and professional programer who is now on his way from Duluth on the lakes back to his native Australia with his small family to re-settle there. The program is called BlueWaterSailingData and comes in two parts. One is the position reporting part which has a large number of connection options from SMS and internet by email to satellite phones,Globalstar SPOT,Winlink and SSB radio etc etc.

The other part is the Google earth location display screen,available to anyone with a PC. All is on-line with nothing to download or install.  This is to keep family and friends informed of their location.

I have also created an Android version for both,which you can install on your Android smartphone by just clicking ONCE on the two attachments with the .APK suffix.
